A high point of your visit to the mesas will be visiting with the Hopi artists and seeing their very creative expertly crafted  products.  One mile east of the Hopi Culture Center on Rte. 264 you will find the Rising Sun Gallery, recently updated and enhanced,  and renamed. Here, Mr. Weaver Salina will give you a live demonstration of Hopi overlay silver jewelry making. With 42 years experience in working with silver, Weaver is best known for his creative contemporary designs, interpretations of traditional Hopi symbols.  Weavers shop is adjacent to the gallery show room. If it happens that Weaver has been called to the corn fields, Alberta will be available to show you around. risingsun sign inset vertAlbertas specialty is in weaving  traditional Hopi baskets, and a display of competition awards will attest to her expertise . Alberta follows the Hopi traditional ways of basketry; gathering the native branches and grasses, and cooking up the traditional dies. You may also keep an eye out at art shows and festivals around the four corners; the Salinas attend many of them. You will not regret the time you spend at Rising Sun Galleries with this wonderful, welcoming couple Weaver and Alberta Salina. Parking area adequate for RV's or tour busses.
