Povi Native American Arts & Gifts: A Sense of Time and Place
Povi is located on Second Mesa at the Hopi Cultural Center complex but is owned and operated by the Village of Tewa on First Mesa.
Come share in Tewa and Hopi culture and tradition through the artistry of peoples deeply rooted in generations-old religion and spirituality.
Povi, meaning “flower” in the Tewa language, was established in 2006. The business is owned by the Village of Tewa and was started with the intent to become self-reliant as a village. Funds from the business subsidize Village projects such as youth and elderly programs.
Povi is one of the largest Native American Art galleries on the Hopi Reservation. Located on Second Mesa at the Hopi Cultural Center Plaza, right off State Highway 264, we carry a variety of handmade Tewa and Hopi art, such as pottery, Katsina dolls, jewelry, Hopi coiled, wicker, and sifter baskets, bows and arrows, and rattles. You will also find Hopi textile items and blankets, purses, scarfs and more.
Although we specialize in Hopi and Tewa arts, we also carry Southwestern Native American from Navajo, Zuni, Apache, San Felipe and Santo Domingo artists. We carry souvenir items; magnets, ornaments, greeting cards, Hopi drawings, and prints. Don’t miss our collection of books on Hopi culture selected from the Recommended Reading List of the Hopi Cultural Preservation Office.
You are invited to share in the truly unique and culturally rich heritage and traditions through the timeless art of the Tewa and Hopi People at Povi Native American Art and Gifts.
